This is a progress update for my 3d model of Discord. Thanks to some of the comments on the last version, I've lengthened the tail, and added scales to the tail and leg. The final look of the leg is up in the air - I think I'm going to make the scales fade gradually to avoid having too much distracting detail. I've also significantly improved the rigging system, making this rudimentary dance animation possible. Once again, comments and constructive criticism would be lovely!
I based this animation off of MattyHex's "Discord's Dance Animation", which can be found here. Its a tad awkward, but given that 3d prints move notoriously slowly, its a bit of a non-sequitur.
Speaking of 3d printing, I've sent off for a 14cm print of the pose I posted last time. When it arrives, I'll be able to get a feel for what I need to change in order to ensure that the final product doesn't break or fall over. After that, I'll be in a pretty good position to offer prints for sale.
The model has been updated since this post, see [link] for updated link.
Awesome animation. I was just ruminating how strange it seems that the same 3D model can easily become both an animation and a printed object. It's a weird blending of the real and the virtual.
